What is Small Change?
The world is suffering from two kinds of
hunger:
The hunger of the body and the hunger of
the heart.
There is something each of us can do
about both kinds of hunger.
Small Change:
Compassion In Action
Being The Change
we want to see in the world.
Our mission is: 1) empowering, inspiring, challenging and educating people to
make Small Changes (in thought, word, and action) to grow in compassion
for themselves, others and the earth. 2) Saving Small Change for hunger
relief, as one example of a "small change" people can make to
express their compassion.
Who we are:
A compassion education program, we deal with 2 kinds of hunger in the world: The hunger of the heart/spirit and hunger of the body. We are committed to the belief that each of us can do something about both kinds of hunger.
What we do:
About
hunger of the heart (Spiritual Hunger): Programs, events and projects that inspire, empower, challenge and
educate people to make Small Changes in thought, word, and action,
to grow in compassion for themselves, others, and the earth. What we do
includes: concerts (including house concerts), retreats, seminars, worship
services, arts and lecture programs, conferences, assemblies and classes. We
also write and record songs and produce CDs to help inspire and encourage
people to be "compassion in action."
About
hunger of the body (Physical Hunger): At each of these
events we hope that what we say, what we sing about, and what we discuss will
create in people a desire to make small changes in their own
lives to "be compassion" in the world. At each of our events and
programs we ask people to make one small change, which is to save
their small change for hunger relief. We ask people to save and
donate their small change to Small Change. Every cent saved goes to direct
hunger relief. We use the small change donated to our Hunger Fund to supply
relief agencies with oral rehydration salt packets (ORS) to help save the lives
of people who would otherwise die from the dehydration that accompanies
starvation.
