SMALL CHANGE IN YOUR SCHOOL
The Power of Compassion ~ the Heart of Self-Esteem
Don Eaton presents his message through meaningful songs, transforming stories and compassion skills workshops for elementary, middle school and high school audiences.
Don Eaton in Concert:
Songs and Stories for Growing Compassion
This program can be presented as an all-school assembly, a split assembly or can be combined classes in a large classroom setting or in larger spaces such as libraries, choir or music rooms -- what ever works best for your school's needs
Compassion in Action:
Making Small Changes (A Follow-up Program)
This is an opportunity for "up close and personal" time with Don for questions and discussion. The goal of these sessions is learning what compassion means, why it is essential and ways to put it into action in everyday life. Making specific "small changes" in thoughts, words and actions raises self-esteem.
Don Eaton & Small Change in High Schools:
A Model That Works
If your high school no longer schedules all-school assemblies, you might want to consider a model used by Sprague High School in Salem, Oregon. For the last ten years, Sprague has had Don Eaton as a guest speaker/singer, combining several classes at a time in a large "double classroom" setting. Teachers, counselors and students have been overwhelmingly positive in their response. Other high schools have also used this model.
Please note: It is not the intention of Small Change to replace or circumvent any of your school's fundraising programs. Although we hope your school will want to save small change for hunger relief, it is not a requirement for having Don present his program to your school.
Here is some praise that Don Eaton has received from educators:
"It's a pleasure to recommend Don Eaton and the Small Change program to your school. You'll be thrilled with the outcome and you'll feel that you've make a real difference in the spirit of your school and the world. I highly recommend his program not only for your students, but also for the parent programs and staff workshops. His wonderful songs and stories, delivered in his own loving style, model the key role that compassion plays in creating self-esteem and a sense of hope in our young people. Funds are well spent on this program -- and the return in value to your school will be ten fold." - - Tigard Elementary School, Tigard, Oregon
"...As much as we enjoyed the concert, Don's two-hour workshop with our sophomores was the highlight of the day. He kept 150 tenth graders interested and busy. Many students commented how much they liked the discussion in small groups..." - - Greenville Senior High School, Greenville, Pennsylvania
"Don's visit to our high school was a warm, sharing experience for staff and students. He has an instant rapport with young people. He's a walking, singing 'testimony' of what he believes, without overwhelming you with it. In a one hour class, he brought more insight to students then some classes do in nine weeks! I'm so glad we didn't let this chance pass us by!" - - Corvallis High School, Corvallis, Oregon
